London is one of the most travelled destinations around the world, with so many things to see and do. From historic sites, to the heart of modern culture, London has something for everyone. You may discouraged to come thinking that going there and staying for a few days can get quite expensive however; if you know what part of London you want to experience, and you know where to look, you can easily enjoy the city and find some cheap hotels in London.

If you want to experience the busiest street in Europe, or conversely relax in one of the most well-known parks in the world, then Oxford Street and Hyde Park is a must-see for you. Oxford Street has over 300 shops, where you can buy almost everything imaginable, and has some of London's iconic shops like Selfridges, Debenhams, and Marks & Spencer. At one end of Oxford Street lies Hyde Park, where most of the Londoners spend their summers to relax in the gardens, or sometimes stop by the famous Speaker's Corner, or even come to watch concerts and events. Spending a day in the park or in shop-till-you drop mode can get a little tiring, so a hotel nearby is a must. Here are some of HostelBookers recommendations below:

Astor Court Hotel
Located a couple of minutes walk from Oxford Street & Hyde Park this hotel offers good security and luxury, all housed in a former gentleman's club, giving you a sense of old London. Also nearby Astor Court Hotel is the West End, also known as the Theatreland, world famous for staging some of the greatest plays, from the Phantom of the Opera, to Les Miserables, to the Lion King, there are over 40 theatres and opera houses across the West End that will suit your tastes and budget.

Goldsmith House
If you fancy a trip to the London Zoo, or want to see the stucco terraces designed by British architect John Nash, then you should definitely visit Regent's Park. One of the more exclusive districts of London, institutions like the Zoological Society of London, and the Regent's College are located in the park. There is also the Open Air Theatre, and plenty of Italian and English gardens to visit. For women, Goldsmith House is a good place to stay, where you can either rent out private rooms, or get a bed at the dorm.

Compton Guest House
One place that is synonymous to event it hosts is Wimbledon, home of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, arguably the most prestigious of the four Grand Slam events of the professional tennis season. From the last week of June to the first week of July, tennis fans flock to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon to see the Championships play out. Five minutes’ walk from Wimbledon station, the Compton Guest House offers single, double, and family rooms at affordable prices.

Hanover Hotel
One of Londons main attractions is the Royal Family and what better way to spend a morning than watching the regal parade that is the changing of the guard. This military ritual takes place every other day at 11 am and is a must see. The Hanover hotel was built in 1859, and is in walking distance to Buckingham Palace. The air conditioned in-suite rooms are beautifully furnished and offer Internet access and a free breakfast.

London has such vibrancy that few other cities can match. Good planning and good preparation will let you enjoy what London has to offer without twisting your pockets.
